OnCall to help programs comply with new resident work-hour limits
Bethesda, MD. July 10, 2002 –  Spiral Software is adding work-hour reporting to its scheduling software OnCall. Most good-size residency programs already use OnCall to schedule staff. The new duty-hour reporting will let users track hours with no extra software, time or expense.

In July 2003, the ACGME will begin sanctioning hospitals that violate strict new work-hour limits. Stuart Karon, Spiral's founder, is committed to helping programs that use OnCall comply with the new regulations. "Over 500 residency programs schedule and track resident duties with OnCall. Duty-hour reporting is a logical extension to the clinic, call and rotation scheduling already built into the software."

Spiral Software is also discussing with customers how to best verify work hours without asking residents to punch in and out every day. Mr. Karon explained, "Every few months, our web site will ask each resident to track his/her hours for one week, and at the end of the week email a link to submit the hours online."

A one-year license for OnCall is $249 and includes the OnCall scheduling software, an account on the OnCall web site for publishing schedules online, and unlimited technical support. The new version will be available in September and OnCall customers will be able to download and use OnCall at no extra charge.
